Pearson Language Tests is a unit of the Pearson PLC group, dedicated to assessing
and validating the English language usage of non-native English speakers. Pearson PLC is one of the
largest education and media companies in the world and owns many education and publishing companies
such as Longman, The Financial Times, Penguin Books and Edexcel. The tests and exams so far developed
include PTE General (formerly London Tests of English) and PTE Young Learners (formerly London Tests
of English for Children). These are scenario based exams, accredited by the QCA and administered in
association with Edexcel, which is now the UK’s largest examining body.
Pearson Language Tests is preparing to launch a new academic English test, Pearson
Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) which is endorsed by Graduate Management Admission Council
(GMAC), the organization responsible for the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).
PTE Academic will be delivered through the Pearson VUE centers which are also
responsible for delivering the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) worldwide. Test takers are
notified by email when their scores are available, typically within five business days from their
test date, for minimal delay in admissions applications. Test takers are able to access their PTE
Academic scores online with a secure login and password. Recognizing institutions and organizations
have access to an enhanced reporting and results service.
